No Regrets

No regrets“I don’t do regrets. Regrets are pointless. It’s too late for regrets. You’ve already done it, haven’t you? You’ve lived your life. No point in wishing you could change it.” – Lemmy Kilmister, Motorhead

Live your life in such a way that if you have the opportunity to express regrets, you have nothing to express. A life of no regrets is something to be treasured. Is it possible to move forward through life in this manner? Yes, it is. You may have simple regrets like those of a big impulse purchase that has you on the line for 60 months. Another type of regret may haunt you for not spending enough time with loved ones, or suddenly realizing your child doesn’t need you anymore. These regrets can tear a person apart, emotionally or financially. At this point, the best course of action is to be aware, and move past it. Here are some tips to live a life of no regrets:

  • Work hard at working less. Your work doesn’t matter when you are going into labor, or someone is holding your hand on your deathbed.
  • It doesn’t have to be “I love you.” Frequently, let people know that they are important to you. A surprise text message to a friend you haven’t talk to in months can easily bring a smile to their face, as well as yours.
  • Don’t drink the poison. Holding onto anger or hurt feelings only damages you. Forgive people, and experience a sense of relief to carry on with your life.
  • Get in the driver’s seat. Make plans for your life, and drive in that direction. Follow your dreams and aspirations with hot pursuit. Don’t wait for the successful windfall. Make it happen for yourself. You can do this.
  • Be humble and listen. You can learn so much from others who have blazed the trail before you. Take time to listen to advice, and learn from other people. A teacher can be in many forms in our life. We can even learn from our children.
  • Patience is a virtue, but persistence to success is a blessing. Never give up, but don’t rush life’s little pleasures. You just might miss the most important thing in your life.
